Hey,

We’re introducing a new format designed to make you a better, impactful PM. Starting today, every Friday, we will share Real PM Problems

Here’s how it works:

  • I’ll share a real-world product change or scenario.

  • I’ll ask critical questions—the kind that force you to think like a top PM.

  • You reply with your take. The best responses get featured in next week’s newsletter.

Because let’s be honest—the best way to learn isn’t by reading theory.

It’s by tackling real-world decisions and breaking down why things work (or don’t).

Let’s start with Instagram’s newest move: Downvoting comments.

🔥 Instagram just launched a “downvote” button for comments.

What we know:

  • You can downvote comments/replies on a post.

  • It seems like, the downvote count isn’t public.

  • The downvotes also look like they’re anonymous.

  • IG rolled it out quietly—no big announcement. So it could still be an experiment (available to a small part of the audience.)

👀 Now, think like a PM:

  1. What is the larger goal of introducing this feature?

  2. What are the top 3 metrics you would use to measure success of this feature?

  3. How would this impact content creators?

Leave comments below with your take—the best replies will be featured in next week’s email.

Let’s make this the #1 real-world learning space for PMs.

See you in the replies,

—Sid

P.S. In the next edition of Real PM Problems, we will also share our answers to the above questions.

If you know other PMs who might have good answers or might enjoy challenges like this, forward this email to them.
